For sale in our Chicago showroom is an absolutely stunning 1948 Lincoln Continental Convertible. The appearance of this black beauty is remarkable from any angle but most people are awe-struck at the front end styling with its massive chrome bumper, grill and headlight doors that give the appearance that the whole front end is dipped in chromium. Interestingly enough the "Continental Kit" consisting of a covered spare tire on the rear bumper actually took its name from these gorgeous cars. In addition to the proudly displayed Lincoln emblem dead center you will notice the Art Deco hood ornament and stainless steel hood trim. The classy exterior design continues along the sides with large front fenders leading back to rear fender skirts and hump-back trunk in front of the continental kit.
The interior of this Lincoln is equally gorgeous and features more chrome on the dash than most modern cars have period. Beautiful Art Deco styling is continued on throughout the instrument panel and the fully illuminated gauge cluster is beautiful and functional. Some features on this car are not what you would expect in '48 including power convertible top and power windows. This cars has been restored with the intent on driving and has been converted to 12 volts with an alternator in lieu of a generator and an electric fuel pump. This car was completely restored in 2003 and shows beautifully. The entire body was taken down to bare metal and repainted. All mechanical items were repaired as needed including new front king pins and bushing, new heater and defrost, automatic power antenna and a modern stereo mounted tastefully under the dash.
