The modern GTO was based hugely on the Holden Monaro of the Australian market. This brought many features that the original GTO wasn’t around to experience, such as independent rear suspension, 6-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission, and the now legendary LS1 engine. The example you see here today started out as a 6-speed manual LS1 making a respectable 350 horsepower making this one quick ride. The seller decided that it just wasn’t quick enough and opted to have a Borla exhaust system installed to help the engine exhale, and a Magnuson supercharger to stuff more air into the aluminum power plant.

The exterior has had many subtle changes that the average onlooker won’t notice right away, but will slowly notice how the license plate surround fits more than factory, the GTO badges seem to fit more level, and the rear spoiler seems just slightly more aggressive. The wheels pop in the sunlight and glimmer at night. The Phantom Black Metallic gives way to the red leather interior that still appears showroom new. With just over 17,600 miles, it’s no surprise how good the whole vehicle looks. Turn the key and the second coming of a legend roars to life letting you know that it means business just as much now as it did 40 years ago. At cruise there is just a soft rumble letting you know the tiger is always ready to be let out of the cage. Planting your foot to the floor emits a supercharger whine reminiscent of the sound that same tiger having its tail yanked, and this baby just roars and rips.
