The Chrysler Newport had a long run from 1940 all the way up until the early 80’s producing seven different generations with this 1977 belonging to the sixth. This body style was a whole new look for the Newport including squarer edges and similar to some of the luxury cars of the time. This generation was also the heaviest car that Chrysler produced and, being in the middle of an oil crisis, dramatically affected the sales of these cars.
