A clean retro-modern masterpiece coming from a legendary designer Jay Mays, this 2002 Ford Thunderbird is one incredibly sweet ride. Recalling the original first generation thunderbird in some key front and rear end design cues as well as in the overall proportion, the eleventh generation Thunderbird was manufactured at Ford's Wixom Assembly Plant, sharing the Ford DEW platform with the Lincoln LS, Jaguar S-Type and XF.
The Thunderbird's exterior styling was unique relative to the others, the instrument panel, steering wheel and other trim pieces were borrowed from Lincoln LS.
The sole engine of the Thunderbird was a Jaguar-designed AJ-30 3.9 L DOHC V8, a short-stroke (85mm) variant of the Jaguar AJ-26 4.0 L V8, rated at 252 hp and 267 lb?ft of torque -- in combination with Ford's 5R55N 5-speed automatic transmission.
This example has been lovingly maintained and it shows. With a host of standard features such as Air Conditioning, Cruise control, power windows and door locks, power mirrors, power seats, antilock brakes, driver and passenger air bags, an electronically operated convertible top, and aluminum alloy wheels, this car is poised to impress wherever it goes, getting you there in all the modern comforts you could desire while doing so.
The limited turquoise paint paired beautifully with the white wall tires is really a tribute to history. Portal hard top included.
