The El Camino concept was created in 1959 in response to the popular Ford Ranchero and had a successful but brief 2-year run returning as the second-generation model in 1964. This third generation El Camino is equipped with a rebuilt 350 CID V8 engine that you can catch a glimpse of when the new cowl induction hood allows more air flow into the engine bay. Backing up this small block is a TH350 automatic transmission delivering power to a 12-bolt rear end with 4.11 gear ratio.
It is becoming more unusual to see El Caminos on the road than ever before and they are prized by collectors for not only the great look but functionality of having a full pickup bed and the driving habits of a car. This example is one of the nicest you are sure to come across and features a very high quality paint job finished in Gloss White that was part of the recent restoration that also includes: new aluminum radiator, new water pump, new gas tank, new brakes, new cowl hood, new shocks, and new headers and exhaust pipes.
On the inside you will notice a very original looking interior which has been replaced with new materials including the gauges, carpet, and seat upholstery. The black vinyl bench looks great in contrast to the white exterior.
