1953 Kaiser Henry J Gasser, historical drag car, for sale in the Detroit showroom. This 1953 Kaiser Henry J is an extremely well documented piece of drag racing history from the beginning of the NHRA. Was built and driven by racing pioneer Bill Waddill. As it sits currently the car is powered by a mildly built 1964 283 V8 Chevy motor running through a Muncie transmission and 9in Ford rear end with a 5.67 gear ratio. All equipment on the vehicle is period correct from when Bill actively ran it in competition to great success. Car was run in everything from open track nights to the 1959 NHRA Nationals in Detroit. This Henry J gasser was featured in several issues of “Hot Rod†magazine and even the NHRA film “Ingenuity in Actionâ€. When first built the car was shortened and slimmed from all angles to save weight and given a full suspension rework; turning it into a purpose build racecar. Previous documented powertrains include various Ford, Chevrolet, and Chrysler motors in all varieties including a twin Paxton supercharged 1957 Chrysler 392. Runs and drives and currently sits on period correct drag slicks. The car is fully titled and registered by a private collector and has remained unchanged since 1967. This historical 1953 Kaiser Henry J gasser racecar is for sale in our Detroit showroom and can be seen at www.gatewayclassiccars.com, or call (313) 982-3100 for any additional information.
