1953 Studebaker Starliner

For sale in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom is a really unique 1953 Studebaker Starliner hot rod. Studebaker has always been a car company known for thinking outside the box aesthetically, making them great places to start for building a hot rod to stand out from the crowd in. The 1953 Starliner and Starlight are even standout vehicles for Studebaker, as it was a completely redesigned body that year. The Starliners can be differentiated from the Starlight by the “hardtop”, or pillar-less roof, and were the more expensive of the two models.

This Starliner underwent a rebirth at some time in the late 1980’s. At the time, a new 1986 model Chevy 350 crate motor was installed, and a professionally rebuilt ’87 model 700r4 was bolted up to the back of it. The small block Chevy has several modifications to improve performance such as Sanderson headers leading to a 2.5” dual exhaust with an X-pipe crossover, an Edelbrock intake manifold, and MSD fuel injection under a B&M Hi-Tek air cleaner. The tough as nails Moser 9” rear end was stuck out back, and a Stage III Mustang II front end from Fat Man Fabrications was pinned up front to make sure the wheels keep spinning for years to come. Speaking of wheels, they are Weld Racing Fat 50’s in 15x7 all around, wrapped in Sumitomo HRT all season tires.

Inside, the black leather seats from a 1995 Lincoln Mk. VIII keep you comfortable for miles, while a Cadillac tilt and telescoping steering column allows you to get your driving position just right. The cold A/C keeps you cool and comfortable, and the JBL speakers powered by the Power Acoustic head unit keep the tunes coming through crystal clear.
