The 280ZX was the first time that the Datsun badge was accompanied by the “by Nissan†subscript, and represented the changing of the brand in the American market, as the Datsun name was dropped altogether in 1986. In 1982, the 280ZX received a facelift, which came to be known as the Series II 280ZX. This included a revised B-pillar, pin-stripe style taillights, and of course the very cool asymmetrical NACA ducting in the hood. The sweeping roofline of this coupe is a classic shape that will not go out of style anytime soon. One of our favorite style cues has to be the “sugar scoop†headlight channels, as they feel retro and futuristic all at the same time.
This particular car is somewhat of a rare bird. Unlike many you see out there, the red paint on this ZX is all there and in great shape. It was repainted at some point in its past, but there is no damage outside of ordinary wear and tear. It also is has managed to stay completely stock, save for an aftermarket air filter and mesh style wheels. The interior has remained very clean, and with under 75,000 original miles this little Z car has a lot of fun miles left in it. The only thing missing from this car is you in the driver’s seat.
