Gateway Classic Cars of Fort Lauderdale is proud to present this gorgeous 1959 Series 62 Cadillac convertible in red on red.
In 1959, Cadillac developed one of the greatest line of luxury vehicles ever to be produced. '59 is remembered as a very special year to collectors, enthusiasts, and everyone in-between. A mid-century icon, 59 Cadillac's- in this condition especially - are highly sought after and are very recognizable. Cadillac offered various trims in '59, including the Sixty-Two Coupe and Sedan, the Coupe De Ville, the Fleetwood Sixty, Eldorado Seville, and of course- the Sixty-Two Convertible.
Marketed as the "New Standard of the World in Supremacy!", the Sixty-Two Cadillac is just about as nice as it can get when it comes to luxury convertibles. Just seeing those rear fins is all it takes for your jaw to drop upon first sight. The double rocket taillights will make you fall in love instantly. One of the finest examples of retrofuturism in vehicle design. Heavily influenced by the Space Race, and Americas eager pursuit into the "future", the looks of this 59' Cadillac are simply awe-inspiring.
Inside the vehicle you will find what is believed to be an original brochure for the 1959 Cadillac line. A neatly color coordinated collection of photographs and descriptions of each trim offered that year. The front cover sports a beautiful photograph of the rear tail-fins, with a nicely dressed couple outside of a mansion. The brochure Depicts the luxurious American lifestyle that these cars are associated with, and describes the Sixty-Two Convertible in the following: "Behind a new windshield of epic proportions, the driver surveys the world about him over a remarkable, low, broad expanse of hood and fenders... flowing together in one smooth, rhythmic lines".
This Cadillac has undergone a beautiful and extremely detailed restoration process. Saved invoices/paperwork lists restoration work dated between 2015-2018. Restoration work in 2015 includes a rebuilt brake system, convertible top motor replacement, new belts, sparkplugs, fuel lines, a fuel filter, to name a few. Part Descriptions on a 2016 invoice lists: starter solenoid, starter repair kit, windshield gasket, and date coded windshield + install. 2017 and 2018 invoices reads: water pump, carb rebuild kit, carb jets, fuel pump, fuel filter, baffle plate, and carb metering rod. The owner has also kept maintenance receipts since its restoration, including fluid changes and basic inspections.
Currently the Cadillac is sporting a set of super cool wire style wheels, which were recently installed. Those white wall tires are newer as well and just look so clean! All dated on a 2019 invoice. The original wheels come with the car too! Plus, a fitted hot-red car cover, and a boot that matches the convertible top. The interior is in just as great of shape as the exterior. The motor in this beauty is a powerful 390 CID V8, mated to an automatic transmission.
