Gateway Classic Cars of Houston is proud to present this completely restored white-over-red 1957 Ford Ranchero Custom for sale. While many may think of the El Camino as the first sport Ute, but it was actually the Ford Ranchero, which was introduced in 1957, when Ford put a pickup truck bed on their Ranch Wagon. The idea originated in Australia, and it made its way to the States. The Ranchero was marketed as a truck, even though it was based on the Ranch Wagon platform. It was rated for 1,190 lbs of cargo capacity in its six-foot long pickup bed, so it was competitive with Fords F-100 pickup in its cargo hauling capability; yet it shared many of the amenities of Ford's cars, being much less utilitarian than their trucks. The Ranchero came in two series - the Custom 300 and the base model. The Ranchero Custom shared the same trim as the Custom series Ford cars had, both inside and out while the base model only shared the Custom series car lines' trim on the inside only.

This 1957 Ford Ranchero for sale sports the Custom trim and is a nice white over red color combination. Under the hood is what may be the original 292 CID V8, but it has a few custom touches there as well. A chrome brake booster and master cylinder dress up the engine compartment, and if you look closely, you'll see that it is equipped with air conditioning. There is a billet aluminum air cleaner housing sitting atop three 2BBL carbs on an aluminum Offenhauser intake, which makes for a unique setup. Shorty headers help funnel the exhaust gases into a true dual exhaust setup. Power Steering and Brakes, combined with the creature comfort that the A/C provides the passengers, help make this Ranchero a year-round classic cruiser that's easy and enjoyable to drive around town.

Inside, you'll note a Custom Autosound control head, which provides AM/FM/Aux features, and sports an iPod connector. Memphis Car Audio coaxial speakers in the kick panels kick out the jams way better than the original AM radio and single speaker ever did. The seats are covered in fresh synthetic leather, with white surround, and contrasting perforated red inserts that match the perforated synthetic leather lower door panel trim, which is also perforated, and all serve to complement the exterior paint scheme. The carpet appears virtually unused, and the window felts and weather stripping are in great shape as well. This Ranchero sits on original style steel wheels with chrome plated wire wheel covers, which add a nice dress-up touch. A fresh set of Coker Classic Wide White Sidewall radial tires help provide a smoother ride and better handling than the original WSW bias ply tires did. And, if you ever get a flat, it has a spare tire and jack.
