Cadillac renamed its entry-level Series 62 the Calais in 1965, after the French town and resort which overlooks the narrowest point in the English Channel. Powering the beast is the 340 hp 429 cu in (7.0 l) V8 which was also built for the Calais and became the standard option for Cadillacs go to motor.
