Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is excited to present this awesome Candy Red Metalflake 1956 Ford Thunderbird restomod for sale. The car comes with a binder full of receipts and documents covering the restoration. It runs great, looks great and drives great, and this car is way more than meets the eye! For starters, the paint may mesmerize you: each different angle you view it from in the sun will give you a new experience of colors! Plus, it has that classic styling and flair, yet it also has modern power, drivability, and comfort hiding under the skin! In fact, its owner believes it may be a one-of-a-kind build...indeed, there are other Coyote-swapped 1st Gen T-birds out there, but you'll likely be very hard pressed to find one that has a 6-speed manual transmission as part of the drivetrain (most Coyote swap 'Birds have either an automatic transmission or a 5-speed manual). Going with the 6-speed manual required very extensive custom fabrication to enable the Coyote and 6-speed manual to fit and not only look like they belong in this car, but operate like it, too! Its owners, who are avid members of the International Thunderbird Club, had long wanted to do a restomod version of a first gen T-Bird, and when they found a '56 body that was in very good condition, they purchased the roller, with the intent of turning it into a modern, "daily-driver-capable" car, that could be driven regularly, as well as win some shows. The start of the project began with having a 425HP Ford Coyote engine and 6-speed manual transmission shipped to the shop that was doing the restoration, back in November 2016. What followed was a very lengthy (2 year) custom buildout project and resulted in the gorgeous beast you see now. The bulk of the work, including most of the machine work and custom fabrication, were completed by OC Customs in Houston, to the tune of nearly $63K. Another $27K worth of receipts from The Paint Shop in Tomball, TX, which did the custom paint work, including painting the calipers on its 4-wheel disc brake setup to match the paint on the body. About $10K in miscellaneous parts, including the convertible top, bumpers, gaskets, wiring, and more; were sourced from Larry's Thunderbird Parts to get this project heading to the finish line at the paint shop. 3rd Coast Custom Interiors did the custom interior work, including the carpet, dash customization, door and kick panels, custom center console, and the deluxe synthetic leather that covers the seats, console, etc. With nearly $125K invested in the complete build, this car has been very thoughtfully engineered and finished out. What you have now is a very special '56 T-bird, indeed. It has the aforementioned 425HP 5.0L Coyote engine, 6-speed manual transmission, custom-built driveshaft, custom 3-inch dual exhaust with quad tips, a big 3-row aluminum radiator with electric fans, a new Vintage Air HVAC setup, 4-wheel power disc brakes with slotted/drilled rotors, a Dakota Digital dash with GPS speedo, retro style AM/FM radio, Power Steering, Power Windows, Low-profile Performance Radial Tires wrapped around polished Aluminum Wheels, and Seatbelts. Now is your chance to have what may a truly unique 1st Gen Thunderbird restomod, given its 6-speed manual/Coyote swap setup. Don't miss out on it - you can't build one for anywhere near what it's listed for! Give our Houston showroom a call or shoot us an email - we'd love to help you get this one added to your collection!
