Gateway Classic Cars of Houston is proud to offer this beautiful, one of a kind resto-mod, a 1955 Chevrolet 2nd series 3600 3/4 Ton truck. The word restored is tossed around rather regularly in the classic car space, but in this case, it is properly used describing this truck. This is not a repainted truck with an engine swap, this truck has been fully disassembled, re-plated, refinished, and rebuilt to make this truck better than it was when it rolled off the assembly line. The idea for this truck originally was to set up the truck to pull a 1955 Airstream trailer, and it has been engineered to do so with ease. It could easily be used for similar purposes like towing a vintage boat, hauling a vintage race car, or even driven as a mobile billboard. In 1955, the 2nd series was offered as a 7' or 9' bed; however, this 1955 body sits on a 1971 Chevrolet C20 frame assembly. 1971 was the first year that Chevrolet offered front wheel disc brakes on its pickups. The C20 would have had an 8' bed, so this is truly a unique build in the most literal sense - 1 of 1. It also sits on half ton coil springs for a better ride, and it can easily be converted to air suspension. With this set up this truck is absolutely one of a kind. Under the hood is a fully rebuilt 300 HP 350 CID V8 with 4 bolt main bearing caps. The 350 is backed by a highway-friendly 700R4 overdrive transmission, which will make long distance travel a breeze for this truck. The truck sports its original, but rebuilt, Dana 60 differential with 4.10 gear ratio. It also has C20 discs and rear drums to provide enhanced stopping power vs. its 1955 brethren. It is effectively a beautiful '55 truck on top, and a ‘71 C20 underneath. Being a Texas truck, this one has air conditioning and heat, so you're prepared for any weather. Other goodies include Hooker headers, a full 2 ½” dual exhaust, a beautifully finished oak bed with stainless steel strips, and a 22 gallon fuel tank for the long hauls. The interior has been nicely appointed with gray vinyl upholstery on a Glide Custom Engineering seat with split back and arm rest. The truck has tinted glass, which is real smoked glass, not mere tint film. The instrument cluster has been rebuilt and this truck has all new American Auto Wiring harness with 21 circuits. It has a Retro Sound radio with AM/FM, USB, and 2 RCA ports. Overall this truck has all the comforts of a modern truck, with the look and feel of a classic.
