Chevrolet designed the 1949 Chevrolet 3100 Series Truck to be customized, offering it as Pickup, Panel Truck, Canopy Express Truck and Suburban but they also supplied the individual chassis, body panels and cabs to allow commercial builders to create whatever the customer wanted. This particular 1949 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup certainly would have blown their minds. Looking more like a Hot Wheels come to life this beauty’s body has remained true with natural curves where they count on every edge of the hood, roof and fenders. Smooth, subtle lines on a strapping muscular body draped in Matte Black which looks more like a Tux than a paint job. You’ll look for the satin lapels as your eyes are drawn to the gleaming chrome mask that fits perfectly and greets you with a smile. Huge cartoon like chrome wheels and tires fit snug and match the presence and feel you start to have as goose bumps begin to show. The red calipers show like the red silk pocket square this tuxedo deserves. The chrome trim seems to wrap itself around every opening as you find the only hard straight line this pickup offers at the top of the bed. This truck has wood and so will you driving with 8 lines of gloss planks ready to carry your load. The 4 way air-ride suspension allows proper rest and ride height with all the coolness that comes with a bag suspension. A look inside and the Lipstick Red dash looks more like a kiss left behind on the collar as even the door frames and steering shaft show her lipstick. Your bow tie is prominent front and center, as it should be. Door panels and black leather seating accented by red piping have the fit of a tailor. Gauges have an antique quality with modern ability with air conditioning and tilt wheel to keep you cool and confident. This is no off the rack truck, this is bespoke at its best.

The soul of this truck is just under the hood looking equally sartorial. The small block Chevrolet 400 with recent full tune up including plugs, wires and distributor as well as recent oil change and radiator flush. Rounding all the basics for a properly planned evening out, you have anticipation of taking her to breakfast too. Power disc brakes and power steering keep you stopping and turning in debonair style. New oil sending unit, valve covers and gaskets plus wheel alignment will help keep you from dripping unnecessarily and staying straight ahead.
