Gateway Classic Cars of Houston is proud to offer this very rare, and quite possibly unique (as in "one of one"), 2013 Silver Frost Special Edition Cadillac CTS-V Coupe for sale in our Houston Showroom. Rare? Yes, according to CarAndDriver.com’s Feb 2013 blurb: “…In standard guise, the CTS-V coupe is a pretty sinister-looking piece of big-hipped muscle machine, but current design dogma dictates that for maximum mean, a car needs matte-finished paint. So Cadillac hath giveth the CTS-V coupe a dull-paint option in the form of this Silver Frost edition. The icy finish is achieved through lower-gloss clearcoat, which is applied over regular metallic-silver paint. Cadillac says that in direct light, the paint still will glitter somewhat, but the effect will be muted. Besides the fancy paint, the Silver Frost edition offers buyers the same 556-hp, supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine, a choice of yellow or red brake calipers, and either polished or satin graphite wheels. It also gives Cadillac a unique CTS that’s curiously close—both in name and concept—to BMW’s Frozen series of matte-finished M3s. Just 100 examples will be built, and buyers will be able to get their hands on one beginning this March.” Not only that, but the Silver Frost paint was a $4000 factory paint upgrade option. You’ll not find another like it soon! So, if one of 100 made is rare, then this one is rare just by THAT standard. However, this may be a “one of one” special, in that it was reportedly originally ordered by D3 Group to be their showcase CTS-V, for their San Francisco Bay Area performance tuning shop…Sort of a rolling billboard of performance (and appearance) possibilities available from D3 at that time. D3 Group spared no expense in this build, starting with their D3 Racing “Stage 3 Street/Strip” upgrade package, promising at least 680-rated RWHP. To achieve that level of performance, D3 added their racing Level 2 cold air intake, Stage Two 9.5” lower pulley for increased boost, 82lb/hr injectors, a D3 “UltraCooler” front mount intercooler (with Magnusson intercooler reservoir), MSD plug wires, NGK TR6 spark plugs, StainlessWorks long-tube headers, StainlessWorks off-road mid-pipe, Corsa Sport cat-back exhaust system, and extensive tuning work on D3’s dyno. But hey, that’s not all – if you’re going to go fast, you’ll need to be able to control that speed; so D3 added a full KW V3 Coilover suspension, 20”x9”/20”x11” Modulare M15 3-piece forged wheels (in a sinister matte black center/gloss black rim combo) wrapped with 255/35ZR20 and 305/30ZR20 Bridgestone Potenza S001 tires (front/rear, respectively) , D3 brake cooling ducts with LED fog lights, Brembo 2-piece slotted rotors, and custom D3 “Bahama Blue” powder-coated calipers (similar to ZR1 calipers). Once D3 had addressed the performance aspects of their showcase car, they turned to the appearance, and dialed things to full snarl. All exterior trim has been finished in matte black, with a custom dark gray vinyl striping package (wrap) that starts just below the lower edge of the grille, and travels over the car to its dénouement just below the rear license plate surround. The satin black wrap stripe is highlighted at its edges by a Bahama Blue accent stripe (on the hood and rear deck lid). The side mirrors are finished in the same satin gray vinyl wrap. They also added tinted taillights (which have a superb glossy finish, making the tint ever-so-subtle), custom black D3 Exterior badging, a D3 Performance rear spoiler, D3 two-piece rear lower diffuser, black upper and lower front grilles, and black fender vent trim. All told, the D3 upgrades added over $26.5K in enhancements. This car has every option that the GM 1SV and UAV option codes specified; so you’ll find AM/FM/CD, Cruise Control, GPS, Heated Seats w/Lumbar Support, Power Anti-Lock Brakes, Power Steering, Power Locks, Power Heated and Cooled Seats, Power Sunroof, Power Windows, Tilt Wheel, Traction Control (with Launch), Ride Control with Magnetorheological dampers, Seat Belts, a full complement of SRS/airbags for the driver and passengers, Anti-Theft system, Leather and Alcantara interior, High-performance Summer Radial Tires, and Custom Alloy Wheels.
