Vinyl InteriorThis 1968 Mercury Parklane Convertible is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The Mercury Park Lane was produced from 1958 to 1960 and from 1964 to 1968. It was a full-size automobile that was intended to compete with Buick's Roadmaster. It was available as a hardtop sedan, hardtop coupe, and a convertible. At one time this particular Parklane Convertible was owned by professional football player Ellis Johnson. Ellis played 10 years in the NFL, 1st with the Colts (95-01), then the Atlanta Falcons (’02 & ’03) and finished out with the Denver Broncos (’04). Ellis had the 390 CID V8 replaced with a much healthier 460 CID Crate engine, Edelbrock carburetor, Edelbrock Intake, MSD Electronic Ignition and Flowmaster exhaust to wake this great big convertible up. Chrome Edelbrock valve covers and a low profile air breather add just a touch of bling to the engine compartment. A combination of Green and faux wood grain gives the car a bit of an old school woody look. Wood grain-applied trim was used almost exclusively on station wagons. It was rare to see that trim, which was referred to as 'yacht paneling', on a passenger car. This is one of only 15 Mercurys built in 1968 with that trim. The Green vinyl interior is still in great shape. Release the latches, push a button and the power top comes down just that easy. The material of the top has been replaced once, and is in good shape.
