This beautiful 1955 Mercury Monterey is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The Monterey was introduced in 1950 as part of the Mercury Eight series. The car was designed to compete head to head with GM's hardtop coupes which had taken the automotive world by storm. The pilarless design, known simply as a hardtop, gave the appearance of a convertible with the all of the advantages of a fixed roof. This gorgeous ‘55 is a classic example of what the 50's were all about. The Teal Body and White Hard Top gives the classic 50’s paint scheme and the chrome trim absolutely screams Americana. Add to this the wide white wall tires with the two rears being concealed by a set of fender skirts finishing off the period correct exterior. Pop the hood and you will find a very detailed engine compartment with a 292 V8. With the breather and valve covers are painted the factory color. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, the mechanical side of this Mercury Monterey in great condition. With A simple turn of the key the V8 comes to life and settles down to a smooth idle in no time. Backed up by the classic Cruise-O-Matic transmission driving this beauty is pure pleasure and shifts through all 3 gears without a hitch. In drive the car will actually start out in 2nd gear. If low gear is needed, stop, put the shift selector in L, and then resume driving. Low gear should only be used at low speeds. Since the restoration, there is a little over 5000 miles on this beauty.
