Gateway Classic Cars of Louisville is proud to present this 1973 Avanti II Coupe! Avantis can trace their rich heritage back to Studebaker. When the Avanti was introduced it was largely touted as being "one of the more significant milestones of the postwar industry." Avanti broke 29 speed records on the salt flats becoming the fastest production car in the world for its time! After Studebaker shut down the plant in 1963 Avanti continued on and eventually under Avanti Motor Co. from GM all the way until 2006. Here is a cool '73 Model. Walking up to the car the Silver Moondust paint looks good and the Ox Blood interior complements the exterior well. Under the hood is the believed original 400ci V8 engine backed by a 3-speed automatic transmission. If you listen to the video, you can hear that 400 start up and it sounds good! The owner states the hog troughs are solid on this car! If you know your Avantis you'll know this is a big deal that they are solid. He has had the car for over 16 years and even has some original paperwork. Only things noted as not working on this Avanti are the reverse lights and the air conditioning looks to need a charge. Options on this Avanti are: A/C, Power Brakes, AM/FM Radio, Vinyl Interior, Alloy Wheels and Radial Tires.
