1968 Mercury Cougar for sale in our Louisville Kentucky Showroom. The introduction of the Cougar finally gave Mercury its own pony car. The Cougar was based on the 1967 refaced first-generation Mustang, but with a 3-inch-longer wheelbase and new sheet metal. The current owner bought this 1968 Mercury Cougar in 1971. Over the years he had kept this car maintained. The 302 V-8 has been rebuilt and installed by the Ford Motor Company authorized repair facility in 2007. The factory carburetor was rebuilt at this time as well. The distributor was replaced, and all the wiring for the engine is new. This car starts right up, and appears to be very strong. The Air Conditioning has been upgraded with a later model compressor and it blows cold! The brakes are new, the wheel bearing have been replace, the steering has been rebuilt, and the suspension has been restored. The radiator was also replaced along with all the hoses. The Cougar has been repainted once. There are few minor issues in the lower rocker areas, but all is repairable. This 1968 Mercury Cougar can be seen, including an HD video, at www.gatewayclassiccars.com or call at 812-294-1555 for more information.
