This 1946 Ford Coupe is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. 1946 was the first model year available since Ford had halted its production of civilian vehicles on February 10 1942. Ford like many companies of that era made the decision to turn into a war manufacturing machine. Having that said the 1946 Ford coupe was basically the exact same as the 1942 model under the skin. The exterior took on some subtle changes such as a heavy new grille with horizontal bars and red accents gave the 46 a much more modern feel. The biggest changes would be under the hood with the now more potent 100 horse 239 Flathead V-8 being used. This cool old engine is mated to a manual 3-speed transmission that shifts smoothly. The dark blue paint is an older repaint that still shines up nice with just a little waxing. Keeping with the early ‘50’s styling are steel wheels with chrome beauty rings and hub caps. The wheels are wrapped in wide white wall radial tires. The interior is basic with a gray cloth interior, and still has the original AM radio that still works, but it is a little tricky on find a station. The owner considers this a car a survivor and decided it was better to leave it alone, than to do a rest-mod. This 1946 Ford Coupe can be seen, including an HD video, at www.gatewayclassiccars.com or call at 812-294-1555 for more information.
