1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL

This 1971 Mercedes 280 SL Convertible is located in our Louisville Kentucky showroom. 1971 marked the end of production for the now classic and highly sought after 280 SL. Beginning production in 1963 as the 230 model this was the first with what know as of today as crumple zones. Mercedes marketed it as a "safety body" with front and rear impact absorbing sections this car was definitely before its time. This particular 280 has the original 2.8 liter M130 engine which just like the body was way before it's time. Mercedes being the stickler for perfection as they are known for, actually bench tested each engine prior to being fitted. Not only was the quality now guaranteed but the power being produced was as well. The inside of this 280sl looks great with the black seats giving a great contrast to the white body. The body is in excellent shape with no signs of bondo and paint that shines this would be a great candidate for a daily driver.
