This 1950 Willys Jeepster is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. After World War II, Jeep trademark owner, Willys, believed that the market for the military-type Jeep would be limited to farmers and foresters, therefore they began producing the "CJ" (or Civilian Jeep) to fill this growing segment. Willys then began producing the new Jeep Wagon in 1946, and then the Jeep Truck in 1947. Realizing a gap in their product lineup, Willys developed the Jeepster to crossover from their "utilitarian" type truck vehicles, to the passenger automobile market. In the process, the automaker developed the Jeepster, "one of America's most daring postwar automobile designs."
This 1950 Willys Jeepster has been restored with a big twist! The Inline 6 cylinder has been replaced with a GM 305 CID V-8, a 350 Turbo Hydramatic automatic transmission, and 4 wheel power brakes. The engine compartment has been dressed out with chrome valve covers, chrome alternator and a chrome A/C Compressor. To insure the engine stay cool, an aluminum radiator with an electric fan has been added. To give this 64 year old vehicle a modern feel, an ‘85 Corvette Suspension has been installed. A quick look under the Jeepster and you will notice the aluminum control arms from the Vette in the front and the r half shafts for the independent suspension in the rear. This Jeepster has also been modernized with a set of classic Stewart Warner gauges to monitor, speed, mileage, fuel level, water temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. For your listening enjoyment, an Alpine AM/FM radio and CD player has been installed in the dash. The exterior or this 1950 Willys Jeepster is in excellent shape. The two tone Radiant Fire Chrysler Red and Audi Silver paint scheme is in excellent condition, the black vinyl top looks to be new, and the side curtains are in very good shape. The rear wheel wells have been extended 2 inches to keep the wheels with the corvette rear end tucked under the body. The interior has been done in the same two tone scheme that consists of red cloth with gray silver vinyl to accent everything. In keeping with the Hot Rod theme, the windshield has been chopped 4 inches. To keep the occupants comfortable, a Southern Rods Heat & A/C system has been added. The Willys just made a trip to Florida, the driver states the heat and the A/C works great! The American Racing aluminum wheels are about 2 years, but still have a brand new appearance to them. They are wrapped In BF Goodrich radial T/A’s and add to this Willys just right Hot Rod stance.
