This 1969 Chevelle SS396 is available in our Louisville KY showroom. 1969 was the first year that the SS396 was no longer an actual model but simply a package that could be added to any two door Chevelle for a mere 347 dollars. This would get you a 325 horse 396 or 402, depending on when your car was built. Chevrolet felt that it had put so much money into advertising and not to mention the 396 was a well known name by now. With its sleek new style held over from 68 the Chevelle was by far the most popular mid-size sedan with no real competition from Ford. This 69 is a great example of why we love those 60's so much. Believed to have gone through a complete cosmetic restoration a little over two years ago it looks like it was done 2 weeks ago. With its trim tag correct paint of burnish brown as well as the correct white vinyl top this Chevelle screams 1969 like no other. The quality of the paint is probably nicer than when it came off the assembly line because as much as we love the 60's let’s face it quality control was not one of the strong points. Although there is no documentation of a repaint you can definitely tell it has been done and looks very recent. The interior, much like the exterior, has been redone back to the way the car rolled off the assembly line. Code 791 or AFF, parchment interior as it’s known as, basically a high grade white vinyl is what you have giving this Chevelle a spot on look. With the car believed to have only 71 thousand original miles and only a total of 3 owners the car has lived a rather pampered life. Not to mention it was actually a California car until 97 when the original owner sold it. That’s when it made its way to Kentucky and has been kept in a garage ever since. The original 396, like many of them from that era, had to be replaced. A period correct 396/325 was put in with the factory AC retained. Yes that’s right this decked out SS even has the factory AC. Mated up to the classic turbo 400 transmission controlled through the classic console mounted horseshoe shifter this beauty is ready for whatever you throw at it. From cruising down the highway to a little red light drag racing this will have you taken care of. Finished off with the correct 12 bolt posi rear end and this will have both rear tires asking for mercy every time you smash the throttle.
