1950 Pontiac Silver Streak

This 1950 Pontiac Silver Streak is located in our Louisville KY showroom. 1946 would mark the first year back for Pontiac since the war had ended and automakers were able to build cars again. They went right back to their pre war designs but in 1948 they would make a huge jump above their competition. They started offering automatic transmissions in their entry level vehicles. Before this you had to step up to a Cadillac, Buick, or Oldsmobile if you wanted this luxury. It proved to be a huge success with almost 80% of their vehicles would be sold with automatic transmissions. This Pontiac is very similar in that even though it’s an entry level hotrod it has many luxuries of cars that cost twice as much. Start off with well the transmission. Unlike most classics this custom has an overdrive transmission, a 700r4 to be exact. Now you can actually take your weekend ride on the highway and not have to turn 2500 to 3000 RPM. With the small block Chevy crate motor providing the power you should have no problem getting all this metal up to speed. Finished off in a classic hotrod matte finish on the bottom complimented by a gloss on the top it truly makes this car stand out. The custom airbag suspension has been done right with the compressor built in and firmly planted in the trunk it airs up the bags quickly and consistently. The switches have been built in to the custom center console and are right where they should be. With the gauges sitting in their own custom pod as well the whole set up is done the way it should be. Whether it’s parked, sitting on the ground or all aired up and cruising down the road this Silver Streak has fits in anywhere while not fitting in at all. Open the door and once again you are pleasantly shocked. The two bucket seats are not only wrapped I leather but are completely power operated. One push of the button and you will be in the right cruising spot in no time. Add to it they are out of a modern vehicle they have all the padding in all the right places. Kick the AC or heat on depending on the weather and you should be no excuse to cruise whenever and wherever you want.
