This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. Chevrolet began producing the Bel Air in 1950. Initially only two door hardtops were designated Bel Air's but in 1953 the Bel Air name was no longer a line of automobiles but a premium trim level used on a number of body styles. 1955 marked the introduction of the second generation Bel Air's. Marketed as the "Hot One" the styling on the 55's was crisp and clean. With the incorporation of a Ferrari inspired grille the styling was instant success and is still considered by many to be the best looking car ever made. This 55 has taken those styling quest and amplified them turning it into an absolute show stopper. The first and what many believe the most important decision in a build is the stance. A set of bell tech 2 inch drop spindles were used giving it a very aggressive look. With a set of chrome America Racing Torque Thrust wheels filling on each corner you know this Tri Five is all business. Now that the stance was taken care of a paint job was needed to compliment its new found glory. The decision was made to go with a blue on the bottom and a silver on top which was an excellent choice. PPG products were used with the blue being known as Yamaha blue and the silver is actually Chrysler "bright silver". All of the bright work on the car was either replaced or refurbished completing the super slick exterior. Next was to find a motor to match the attitude of this 55. Having that said one of our well known speed shops was put to work. Auburndale machine shop built a pump gas friendly 454 BBC that sounds like the 55 looks, mean. With all of that power a stout transmission was needed so naturally a TH 400 was installed. A Ford 9 inch POSI with a set of 3.30 gears spins the Moser axles nicely and finally puts the power to the ground. The interior was put together with comfort in mind but also wanted to have a similar look as the original. The split bench is wrapped in soft grey leather while the carpet is of the highest grade. The original dash bezel is used but filled with a custom set of gauges completing an interior that pulls everything together. Options on this 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air include; AC, AM/FM, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Tilt Wheel, Seat Belts, Leather Interior and Aluminum/Alloy Wheels wrapped in Radial Tires.
