This 1966 Coronet is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. 1966 was a great year for the Coronet selling a little over a quarter million units the B body was looking better than ever. With a number of different trim levels as well as engine options it's no wonder they sold so many. Revised in 1965 to become the Coronet once again, well maybe I should just say renamed in 65. The Coronet was really just a Polaras that they stuck a Coronet badge on. This 1966 is a great example of what was capable with one of these relatively small & lightweight cars. Starting with a 2 door post model for its extra rigidity the car was painted to an original 1966 Light Blue which was the original color. A base coat clear coat system from PPG was used giving this MOPAR a very clean sick finish. With the exterior taken care of the next step was a heart transplant. A 1970 383/383 HP motor was built and installed giving this Coronet a whole new lease on life. Wanting the new motor to have that great look & sound a set of ceramic headers were installed which are hooked into an H pipe. Pushing the exhaust through a set of Magna flow stainless mufflers, gives it that classic deep and low rumble. Matched up with the classic and bullet proof 727 transmission this beauty is all business. Putting power to the 8 3/4 rear end spins the 3.23 gears giving this 66 a perfect mix of low end grunt and the ability to get up on the highway without having to wrap up that 383 at 3500 RPM. With all that extra power the rear end was given stiffer springs making it hook up a lot better while the sway bar upfront keeps it from pushing too hard in the corners. The interior was completely redone with a two tone giving it a period correct look. Not only did they use the two different colors but the vinyl and cloth definitely finish it nicely. If you are looking for super slick and extra clean tire shredder that you can actually drive on a daily basis congratulations your search is over.
