Vinyl InteriorThis 1979 International Scout II is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The Scout was produced by the International Harvester company from 1961 to 1980. Many consider this the original platform for the SUV; though todays are much more sophisticated they still use the "truck with backseats" approach. Built in Fort Wayne Indiana it is also considered one of the last truly made in America vehicles. This particular Scout II has a great look to it, with its light blue body and white removable hardtop it will turn heads no matter where you go. Brought down to bare metal, the panels had no signs of rust what so ever making this a super rare find. With the 33 inch tires on all 4 corners this Scout stays true to its off-road racing roots. The rebuilt, period correct, 345 CID engine has a nice subtle rumble to it letting people know this 4x4 means business. Updated with a Mallory electronic ignition which is not only more reliable but it also increased the power output. With the exterior and running gear taken care of the next step was the inside. The natural decision was made to go with the original style bucket seats upfront and bench in the back. The buckets were covered with a high quality vinyl that will clean up easy in the event a little fun from the outside gets to the inside. With the medal accents painted the same as the outside the interior looks like its right out of 1978. With the option to have the back covered up with the hardtop or my personal favorite topless, the fun factor on this Scout is as tall as its roofline.
