This 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 XL Convertible is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The Ford Galaxie was a full size car built by Ford from 1959 to 1974.The name was used from 59 to 61 with 62 being the first year with the "500" and "500/XL" denoting the higher series. This 62 is the latter of the bunch coming from the factory with a lot of high end options for 62. Probably one of the most desirable options for 62 was the center console bucket seat option which this 62 has. It is rare option for 1962, since it was only available as a midyear release to try and compete with GM's SS option on their flagship Impala. The 62's are getting harder to find not to mention this one has only had 3 owners in its lifetime. This Galaxie has had a complete frame off restoration and it definitely shows. The body is as straight and the black paint showing off just how nice it really is. The bright work is in excellent shape with the front and rear bumpers being re-plated this 62 shines as if it was 1962 all over. Hit the switch on the fresh black convertible top and let the hydraulics do the rest of the work. With the whole system gone through and now functioning as it should, the wind will be flowing through your hair before you know it. Of course no one likes the look of the ragtop exposed when it’s down so the original black boot cover does a great job and gives the car a more seamless look with the top down. The other advantage of having the top down is you can hear that healthy 390 under the hood. Rebuilt and gone through during the restoration process this FE big block, with its 330 ponies, will get this piece of American steel moving down the road rather nicely. The 3 speed Cruise-O-Matic transmission is controlled with the console mounted shifter. Take a peek inside and you will see an interior that has been tastefully redone. The red accent is not original but does break up the black and looks as if it should be there.
