1964 Pontiac Tempest

1964 was the first year of the second generation Pontiac Tempest and had a more conventional design and was larger than the first gen. The Tempest was a part of the dawning muscle car era and was the first Pontiac to carry the legendary GTO nameplate as option package. This 1964 Tempest comes rebuilt with a numbers matching 326 V-8 with 9:1 flat top pistons, steel connecting rods, hardened valve seats, stainless valves, and roller tip rockers. It has also had its top end lubrication converted from a rocker stud to a pushrod oiler and also has a Carter 4bbl with period correct intake. With a mild cam this engine purrs happily on 89 octane and is connected to a ST300 2-Speed automatic with a 2.56 Gear ratio. Put all together this car it will pull smoothly and with a strong power band. Along with being a joy to drive it also bold inside with a gold colored interior. The bucket seats, dash clock, center console, Grant wood steering wheel and tach are all period correct and look stunning. New also are the power front disc brakes with tandem master cylinder, stainless brake lines, and stainless fuel tank. All new front suspension, front and rear spring, and gas shocks all with Moog parts. Updated also was a quick ratio steering box, U-joints, alternator, fuel pump, water pump, spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, points, condenser, and engine wiring harness. All these updates were done mid 2016 and have had only 3,000 miles done on them so this car is a fresh update! Also included is the PHS docs, original protect-o-plate, owners manual, and doc folder from when car was purchased new. Parts included are original 2bbl carb, intake manifold, valve covers, air cleaner, front drum brakes, and other miscellaneous parts. This cool cruiser is a part of the genesis of the muscle car and takes you back to the fantastic mid 60’s!
