The Pontiac Chieftain was produced by Pontiac from 1949 to 1958. The 1949 Chieftain and Streamliner models were the first all-new car designs by Pontiac in the post-WWII era. Both inline-6 and 8 cylinder engines were offered and in 1951, the horsepower rating on the “straight 8” was increased to 116 hp. This beautiful numbers-matching Black/Grey 1951 Chieftain runs like a top. Some very interesting options were included with this vehicle and include a radio with seven vacuum tubes, tissue dispenser, under-seat heaters, gas gauge, ammeter, oil pressure gauge, and a temperature gauge with marks for 100, 180and 230 degrees. The 268.2 cubic inch inline 8 is mated to a 3-speed manual transmission with column shift. This is an extreme original including the interior and seat fabric. Use as is or restore as desired. This charmer will not disappoint. This 1951 Pontiac Chieftain Coupe is located at our Milwaukee showroom.
