Gateway Classic Cars is excited to present this gorgeous 1949 Mercury Series 9CM 2- Door Coupe at our Milwaukee Location. The Mercury eight was produced from 1939-1951. During its production the Mercury Eight came in many body styles including coupes, sedans, convertibles and station wagons. This third-generation Mercury was introduced as the first postwar model. Mercury sales records were broken in 1949 due to the completely new “ponton" body styling. A style that defines bodywork that began to enclose the full width and uninterrupted length of a car. That is, no more distinct running boards or articulated fenders. The beginning of modern styling was now showing its beautiful face.

Our 1949 Mercury Series 9CM 2-Door Coupe is probably one of the finest examples you will find for sale today. Painted in radiant black with accenting all new black and red calves skin leather interior. New carpet has also been installed. Every inch of the interior has been restored to perfection. Under the hood is a professionally rebuilt, blue printed and balanced, flat head V-8 engine. Additions include Edelbrock heads, four- barrel carburetor and manifold. Jahns racing pistons, mild Isky cam. and new headers were also installed. All attached to a three-speed transmission including electric overdrive with switch selection. Many rare factory options also adorn this beautiful coupe. Options that include a desirable deluxe steering wheel with matching gear shift and turn signal knobs, under hood light, Fomoco spotlight, Mercury fog lights, all original dash with original radio and obligatory 1951 Mercury skirts.
