Gateway Classic Cars of Indianapolis is proud to feature this 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS! 1966 saw a complete restyle of the Chevelle on the previous frame that included smooth contours, a broad new grille and bumper treatment, and curved side windows. The new body reflected the "Coke bottle" body shape that became the fad for American cars in the mid-1960s. In 1966, the Chevelle SS396 became a series of its own, using series/style numbers 13817 and 13867. The SS name was switched to SS396 to highlight the 396 cubic-inch engine, and the 283 and 327 cubic-inch engines were no longer offered with the SS package. Suspension upgrades included higher-rate springs, recalibrated shocks, and thicker front sway bar. The base SS396 big-block was rated at 325-horsepower, with 360 and 375-horsepower engines optional.
However, under the hood of this beauty is a totally different beast, a rebuilt 454 V8 mated to the smooth shifting 4-speed manual transmission. With 15 exterior color options for Chevelle’s in 1966, this Chevelle is painted in the “Tuxedo Black”, which was the rarest paint color produced that year, matching beautifully with the astonishing “Regal Red” interior giving this car plenty of character outside and in! Rally wheels give it a finishing touch for a look that defines a true mid-sixties muscle car. This car is really a work of art, and the pictures alone just don't do it justice!
Options on this 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle include – AM/FM Radio, Power Brakes, Seat Belts, Radial Tires, Vinyl Interior, Aluminum Alloy Wheels, Spare Tire with Jack and more!
