Gateway Classic Cars of Indianapolis is proud to feature this 1962 Pontiac Tempest! Famously known for its role in the film “My Cousin Vinny” where they showcased a 63 Tempest. This Tempest is a prime example for the genius engineering that came out of GM in the early 60’s with styling notes not matched by it’s competitors. As famed chief engineer John DeLorean oversaw production designs on the Tempest line. Following the popularity of the Chevrolet Corvair, Pontiac set out to follow the success with a new kind of compact car.
The LeMans was a trim package that allowed more luxurious features not found in base model Tempests, such as bucket seats, badging and was only available in two-door coupe body style. With just 20% of cars on the road in 1962 being equipped with A/C, you can rest assured that this is one of them that was optioned with it! The A/C was rebuilt to run on modern refrigerant (134A). The car is painted in “Cameo Ivory” with “Aqua Marine Poly” interior.
It's equipped with the 195 cubic inch four cylinder engine mated to an automatic transmission. The 62 Tempest had full independent suspension and a rear mounted transmission. A very unique car with not many like it out there. Steal the spotlight at the local car shows with this one-of-a-kind 1962 Pontiac Tempest LeMans!
Options on this 1962 Pontiac Tempest include – A/C, AM Radio, Seat Belts, Vinyl Interior, Posi Traction, Hub Caps and more!
