The Deserter kit cars were produced by the Dearborn and Autodynamics Corporation in the late 1960's and early 1970's and were designed to fit on a VW chassis. They produced three different versions over that time span, the S1, GT, and GS models. This particular Deserter is a GT model that was advertised as an "all-new, all weather" buggy which incorporated a hardtop design that not only has a sports car feel on the road but is also fit for an off-road adventure. This Deserter is equipped with the optional gull-wing door hardtop that not only gives it a cool look but keeps inclement weather out as well. The GT design also brought about a few new body changes that included: molded in headlights, a curved windshield, and great looking side tanks that separated itself from the typical buggy design of its time. This 1967 Deserter Buggy is powered by its recently rebuilt 1600cc 4 Cylinder engine and is backed by a 4-Speed Manual Transmission.
