Long and lean, this 1966 Malibu is painted Barcelona red this shade of red has been “borrowed” from an import that has toy as part of its name. Under the hood do not let the badges fool you, while there is 396 on the chrome valve covers and air cleaner lid as well as the front fenders what really is perched between the fenders is a .030 454 cubic inch Rat! Now I do not know what the internals of this engine are all about but my guess from the exhaust note is at least 10.5 compression pistons so dimple rods or h beams and with this set up a forged crank is to be expected. What I can see is Hedman® long tube Headers, Summit® intake, Holley® 4 barrel with vacuum secondaries and a H.E.I. distributor. Lets just say that a small stab at the loud pedal thrust you back into the seat and makes it difficult to turn the stereo volume up. What else would you place behind this torque monster than a turbo hydomatic 400 3 speed automatic transmission. I guess I could have just said turbo 400. The 12 bolt rear axle housing has a posi carrier and 3.55 ring and pinion and of course with all this go, go, go you need better whoa than drum brakes, so with this car you have disc on all 4 corners! This car brings back memories, I have several memories of a car very close to this one and I bet you do too.
