1960 Nash Metropolitan

For sale in our Orlando showroom is a 1960 Nash Metropolitan. In the mid 50’s it seems that all of the big American auto manufacturers were in the mindset that bigger is better, and why wouldn’t they be? The war was over and American prosperity was reaching new heights. However there was one company that was doing a little thinking outside the box, and that company was Hudson/Nash. Designed as a secondary car or a car for the wife to drive the kids to school or to the store the Metropolitan was a small economic easy to drive commuter that had great styling and price. This little red and black Nash is a great resto mod and has been equipped with a lot of modern features and convenience without sacrificing any of the vintage vibe. The under pinnings have been redone with mustang 2 IFS to give the front end disc brakes and a host of better handling characteristics. The original 1500CC British Austin motor has been replaced with a 2.5l Ford 4cyl so parts are not as hard to find plus the additional cubic inches makes for a very fun ride. The addition of the Ford engine also allowed for A/C to be installed and looks very clean under the hood. The interior has had some renovation with the addition of a modern AM/FM/CD head unit and tilt steering wheel so even for a person of larger stature you can still fit into this American “micro car”. The gages have all been redone with a new set of Autometers that don’t look out of place at all with the layout of the vehicle. This metro sports an automatic transmission with B&M shifter as well as a strengthened rear end to handle the 2.5l up front. The metropolitan is regarded as one of the first few vehicles to set the stage for American economy cars and the example that we have here is a great piece for someone who is seeking the look but wants modern reliability and creature comforts.
