The Firebird has a rich history with automotive enthusiast and spans 35 years of production and reached several generations. In the early 70’s the classic car industry took a major hit to its ego and essentially caused the collapse of the muscle car era, however against GM managers Pontiac engineers persisted and through the 70’s they continues to build and sell big block cars even into the 80’s. The 1979 Pontiac Trans AM holds the record of 116,535 cars sold. Because of ever tightening emissions standards it would seem inevitable that the big block Pontiac would lose its grip in the 3rd generation. This T/A sports a true 6.6 liter 400 cubic inch Pontiac engine under its shaker hood and scoop and is connected to a correct Borg and Warner T10 4 speed manual transmission. This bird came factory equipped with the WS6 handling package, which includes heavy duty anti sway bars, 4 wheel disk brakes and 15X8†snowflakes. Options include: seatbelts, AM/FM stereo with cassette, deluxe cloth interior, rally gauges with tach, power steering, power 4 wheel disk brakes, dual exhaust, smoked rear tail lights and BF Goodrich Tires on factory snowflake wheels.
