The Chevelle SS 396 debuted in 1965 as test platform in response to the GTO’s impact. Five years later, the Chevelle SS 396 was in its prime outselling its Pontiac counterpart and earning the title as king of the muscle cars. While the numbers-matching 396 block no longer inhabits this gorgeous Chevelle, a potent 454 CID V8 takes its place with even more rumble and authority! Built at the Arlington plant, this Chevelle SS 396 was sold new in Springfield, PA where the first and second owners resided. The car went underwent a partial restoration with bodywork and paint completed as well as the M21 transmission being rebuilt. Additionally, the suspension was gone through and an MSD® ignition was installed. It then made a stop in New Jersey where the third owner removed the 396 and installed a GM performance 454 High Output crate engine. The fourth and current owner acquired the car in 2013 and installed new bumpers, front disc Wilwood® performance brakes, new master cylinder and vacuum assist, new wheels and tires, hoses, battery, heater core and so much more to make the car what it is today, a gorgeous example of pure American muscle. Slick dark green paint wraps around every contour while bold white rallye stripes convey this Chevelle’s performance. Pop open the hood to admire the beastly 454 Big Block V8 that sounds as good as it looks through ceramic coated Hedman Headers. See those cowl induction badges?
