Gateway Classic Cars of Philadelphia is presenting a 1940 Cadillac for sale in our Philadelphia location. Some of Cadillac's most important engineering developments, and some of its most beautiful cars, appeared in 1940s. The engine of this automobile, with its advanced hydraulic valve lifters, is a 90-degree, L-head (flathead), 8-cylinder with a 3.50x4.50 bore and stroke, and a displacement of 346 cubic-inch, producing 135 horsepower. 1940 was the beginning of Cadillac's 'torpedo' body styling and advancements such as sealed beam headlights and turn signal indicators. This original condition Cadillac is a true survivor. Originally done in a two tone Gray still with its original Black interior. The fuel system has been rebuilt as well as the brakes, including a new master cylinder and the ignition system. This Cadillac starts right up and runs quietly. This Cadillac is also equipped with an AM radio, cloth and leather interior and a newer set of wide white wall tires. Cadillac has been a standard for luxury automobiles in this country for over 100 years. This 1940 60 Series stands up to those standards and was one of Detroit's best offerings for the day.
