Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is super excited to present this very nicely done 1964 Chevrolet El Camino! By the time the El Camino was reintroduced in 1964, the now legendary car/truck already had quite the storied history. The car was first introduced in 1959 as a full-size car set to compete with Ford's Ranchero. When the El Camino did finally reappear in 1964, it was so closely related to the Chevelle that the vehicle carried both Chevelle and El Camino emblems. The El Camino was built in the same plant as the Chevelle, and therefore carried nearly the same options and trim lines as the Chevelle. But there is not much left original on this bad boy! This 1964 El Camino project was a labor of love over a couple of years, mainly 2010-2014, out in sunny California. Taken down to bare metal & completely redone by Gary's Rods & Restorations in Watsonville, CA. and then fitted a 350 CID "H.O. Deluxe" crate engine purchased from Fremont Chevrolet Dec. 2013, this '64 El Camino was completely finished in 2014 and then put away! The invoices alone on this build are well over $75k (all photos/invoices included with the sale) so you can only imagine what else that owner had tucked away in his collection. In fact, the odometer reading of 3,587 miles is believed to be correct, per seller, since the entire build, gauges included, were all done at the same time. There are numerous high-end components in this build & it is ready for those summertime cruise nights. This is an opportunity to pick up a really nice 1964 El Camino at a fraction of what it took to get it done, so don't let this one slip away!
