Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is proud to present this 1966 Ford Thunderbird. Debuting all the way back in 1955, the Thunderbird was Ford's immediate response to the newly marketed mighty Corvette. It was rushed from idea to prototype in under a year! The Thunderbird would become one of Ford's longest produced cars. Under the hood is a 390CID V-8 with power running down through a 3-speed automatic transmission. Nothing drives quite like a big, bodied Thunderbird. Simply put, it's truly like floating on a cloud. The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in blue vinyl and accompanied by a color-coordinated dash, door panels, headliner, and carpets. Wood and chrome trim adorn the interior, and additional features include a push-button AM radio, a center console, power locks, power brakes power seats and power windows. The swing-away two-spoke steering wheel mounted on a tilt column fronts a horizontal-sweep 120-mph speedometer along with auxiliary gauges displaying oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows just under 88k miles, although true mileage is unknown. Thunderbirds have always represented style, but this one also presents good value for an interesting classic driver.
