Anyone who remembers this era of Trans-AM will know that these cars are synonymously associated with the legendary “Smokey and the Bandit" movies. The 1980 Special Edition models were immortalized in the 2nd movie. The first thing many prospectors will notice is that this car comes with Black Cloth interior instead of the usual tan, which was special ordered by the original owner. In my opinion this combination looks much better combined with the rest of the interior design such as the Gold Spun dash inserts. The Black exterior paintjob is in unbelievable condition considering it is original factory paint and the decals aren't showing any signs of wear either. The tires on this car may look original but you would be mistaken- the Goodyear Poly Steel Radials were special-ordered in 2018 so they are completely safe to drive on (original tires are available with the sale on request). This 1980 Trans -AM comes with its numbers matching 301 CID (4.9 liter) Turbocharged V8 engine with a mind-blowingly low 14,000 actual miles on the odometer; I probably drive at least that many miles in one year, let alone 40! This engine was the first turbocharged V8 that an American manufacturer had ever built and were very quick for the time period. A 3-speed automatic transmission pairs up perfectly with the motor while this particular car was ordered with several functional and well-received options like T-Tops (original protective screens included), Air Conditioning, Cruise Control and an AM/FM Radio with Cassette.
