The 454 CID V8 was the largest engine available in '70 and the LS5 454 was rated at 360 horsepower with 500 lb ft of torque. The LS5 was the highest horsepower engine available with factory air conditioning. There were only 4,298 Chevelle SS with the LS5 built in 1970. Backing the big block is the stout Turbo-Hydramatic 400 transmission and a Positraction 12 bolt rear end with 3.31 gears. Also a part of the SS package is the power front disc brakes and heavy duty suspension. This particular car was built in Texas and spent most of its life there. This SS is finished in a wonderful cranberry red with white SS stripes, beautiful white vinyl top, and matching white vinyl interior. Completing this classic muscle car look are the original Magnum 500 wheels wrapped in a set of white letter radial tires. The Chevelle not only looks great but sounds great too. The big block runs strong and breaths through aluminum headers and dual Flowmaster mufflers, however the original exhaust manifolds are included with the vehicle if you ever wanted to revert to stock form. From the factory this car was equipped with A/C, AM/FM radio, power steering, power brakes, seat belts, vinyl interior, white letter radial tires, and alloy wheels.
