For sale in our St. Louis showroom is a 2001 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 that is far from stock. 2001 was the second to the last year of the Trans Am and was equipped with a 310 horsepower LS1 aluminum V8. The WS6 package added Ram Air and an additional 15 horsepower and had a top speed of 160 mph. This WS6 currently has 65k miles and was stock up until it had reached 54k miles. Here's what was done to the car. 18" Year One billet Snowflake wheels, front Wilwood 6 piston calipers, Moser 12 bolt rear end with 3.73 ring and pinion, upgraded driveshaft, BMR torque arm with adjustable cross member, BMR suspension and sub frame connectors, aluminum high capacity Nascar style fuel tank with twin 340 lph Aeromotive E85 compatible fuel pumps, an E85 fuel composition and temp sensor mounted in the return line, Aeromotive boost referenced fuel pressure regulator and billet fuel rails with 60 lbs injectors. The engine itself is a new LQ9 6.6 liter block with an AEM methanol kit and a Lunati 4340 rotating assembly with forged 9.5:1 pistons assembled by AMT Engines out of St. Louis, MO. The engine is also equipped with a Competition Cams custom grind blower camshaft and a D1SC Procharger currently set at a conservative 10psi of boost. Exhaust for this beast consist of 1 3/4" American Racing headers with electric cutouts exiting through a pair of 3" MagnaFlow mufflers. Backing up all of this power is a 4L80E automatic transmission with a TCI controller and a 3,000 rpm stall capable of 1,000 horsepower. Keeping an eye on all of the important engine details is a set of Autometer and AEM gauges mounted to the A pillar and the fuel temp. gauge is located in the glove box. On a very conservative tune running 93 octane, the car makes 525 horsepower to the rear wheels. With a more aggressive tune with 15 psi of boost, E85 and a front mounted intercooler, the car will make 700 to the rear wheels! This is a gorgeous car with a black and gold paint scheme and oh those wheels. Usual options from the factory are still with the car including A/C, AM/FM radio with a CD player, power windows, power locks, power leather seats, cruise control, ABS brakes, tilt steering wheel and of course T-tops. We have seen a lot of well built cars come through our showrooms over the years. Usually cars that have been modified to this extent can be a hand full to operate. Surely not the case with this Trans Am. The build quality is exceptional and truly a breeze to drive. To view the car in greater detail, including an HD video, visit www.gatewayclassiccars.com.
