Gateway Classic Cars is proud to offer a very handsome 1948 Chevrolet Fleetmaster. The 1940's was an interesting era for American Automobile manufacturers. With WWII taking up a lot of the valuable resources, new cars were a bit of an afterthought. American vehicles of the early 40's were free of chrome and fancy options that were more common with foreign vehicles of the time. After '45 however, things started to take off. Materials, manpower, and engineering could now be applied to America's love-affair: the automobile. This '48 Fleetmaster is a nice example of a standard Chevy that has received some nice options to make it a beautiful piece that anyone could be proud of. Two-tone paint, chrome bumpers, stainless trim, white wall tires, and a handsome chrome grill are all features that make this vehicle really shine. The exterior is finished in its original color scheme: Marsh Brown/Green separated by stainless trim strips. Couple this scheme with a set of wide white wall tires and some shiny hubcaps and it makes for a beautiful Chevrolet package. Inside you'll find brown vinyl upholstery which has been nicely laid over the front and rear bench seats. The dashboard has been kept original in appearance and for good reason. The gauges are attractively laid out from left to right with Gasoline, Temperature, Battery, Oil Pressure, Speedometer, and Clock. The AM radio sits dead center and will still pick up a signal even after all these years. Heat controls are mounted underneath and can warm your feet in the colder months. A properly sized steering wheel helps maneuver corners in this beauty, and of course, shifting is done on the column. If you've never driven three on the tree, you have to try it, it's a lot of fun! Under the hood of the Fleetmaster is an inline 6 cylinder engine that runs smooth like a straight six should. It fires right up with a touch of the starter pedal and makes a nice little sound. This is a nice example of a clean Fleetmaster which is ready to be driven, shown, and enjoyed.
