For sale in our St. Louis showroom is a beautiful 1964 Ford Thunderbird convertible. This numbers matching Thunderbird is equipped with a 390 CID 6.4L 4BBL V8 and a Cruise-O-Matic 3 speed automatic transmission. With 90,257 actual miles, this 64' convertible is fashioned to reflect one of the only 50 Sports Roadsters that was sold in 1964. Offered as a dealer-installed option, the Sports Roadster package included a tonneau cover and Kelsey Hayes wire wheels. Options on this 1964 Ford Thunderbird include: AM Radio, Automatic Convertible Top, Power Steering, Power Seats, Power Windows, Seat Belts, Leather Interior, Wide White Wall Tires, Kelsey Hayes Wire Wheels, and a Tonneau Cover.

The 1964 Thunderbird, the debut of the 4th generation of the Thunderbird, received a more squared off redesign for a "formal look." 1964 was the only model year of the Thunderbird to have the word 'Thunderbird' on the front of the hood instead of the image of the Thunderbird. The Standard 390 CID V8 in 1964 produced 300 bhp,and was capable of a top speed of 120 mph. Thunderbird sales in 1964 were up nearly 50% from the year before at 92,465. Featured in the TV series 'Highlander: The Series', a black 1964 Thunderbird was the main mode of transportation of protagonist Duncan Macleod.

When you pop open the hood of this Thunderbird convertible and you are greeted with a plethora of chrome, air cleaner, valve covers, radiator resevoir, etc, and the engine sounds as good and clean as it looks. Look down the side of this beauty and you find the wide white wall tires mounted on the stunning Kelsey Hayes wire wheels, setting off the red exterior and red leather interior, and forming the classic appearance of the 1964 Ford Thunderbird. The Sports Roadster tonneau cover connects the rear decklid and the back of the front seats by lying over top of the rear seat, by doing so it looks as though the driver and front passenger are piloting a rocket ship sitting just ahead of the rocket engines. The interior also reflects that of a rocket, with louvers, buttons, knobs, and gauges fashioned after a cockpit of a 1960's spacecraft.
