Testing of the first prototype began in January of 1989 for the Viper and the rest was history. The first generation Viper ranges from 1992-1995. The centerpiece of the car was its engine. The Lamborghini Company, then owned by Chrysler Corporation, designed the V10 for the Viper by recasting the block and heads in an aluminum alloy, and was based off Chrysler's V8 engine. A major contributor to the Viper since the beginning was Dick Winkles, the chief power engineer, who had spent a lot of time in Italy. Some specs to note: 0-60 time of 4.5 secs, 0-100 at 9.2 seconds, and a quarter mile drag time of 12.9 seconds. This Viper was last purchased at Roanoake Motors, the top Viper dealership in the country. The Mopar, while aging, has received white glove treatment. The R/T has been in climate control storage, all belts and hoses were replaced for preventative maintence, never driven in the rain, and new Michelin Pilot tires wrap around 2009 Viper GTS chrome wheels. Enhancing the sound of this modern day muscle car is a cat-back Borla exhaust system. Please see the video to witness the amazing sound.
