Gateway Classic Cars is proud to offer a very sharp 1969 Mercury Cougar Convertible. In 1969 Mercury transitioned the Cougar from a stretched out Mustang to a full blown personal luxury car. First the first time and convertible was offered, and is now considered to be some of the most collectible Cougars. The grill was changed to a horizontally oriented design and no longer had the "electric shaver" look. An added bodyline was added to the side of the car to add some more visual interest to the profile of the car. Now standard under the hood was a 351 Windsor V8. This particular example sports that standard 2 barrel 351 which is rated at 290 HP. This car has the 3 speed automatic and plenty of power goodies. Options include: A/C, AM/FM/Cassette, power convertible top, power brakes, power steering, seat belts, vinyl interior, and rally wheels with white wall tires. The vehicle is finished in a gorgeous coat of dark red paint which really shows off the straight body. The convertible top is black and in wonderful shape. The trim is in great condition including nice chrome all the way around. Inside you'll find matching dark red vinyl interior which has been nicely redone. The dash is free of cracks and the wood grain shows that this was considered a luxury car at the time. This is a nicely restored example which is ready for sunny weather cruises.
