For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1946 Chevrolet Truck. This series was known as the AK series and ran from 1941 - 1946. A first for Chevrolet was shared styling cues with the Master Deluxe. In previous generations Chevrolet gave their trucks their own styling not shared with their car lines. Chevrolet and Gmc have always been similar in styling. An easy way to tell the GMC from the Chevy is the front grill. The grill on the Chevy has vertical bars where as the GMC has horizontal grills. Here's a very sharp looking '46 painted in a bright shade of red accented by a black roof and hood to help break up the red a bit. The front bumper has been removed and the door handles have been shaved for a clean look. The bed is a fiberglass unit that has been custom molded to contour around the shape of the cab. The bed is also fitted with a custom tonnouea cover painted in black. The bed is also finished with carpet and an interior tailgate release. Behind the bed you'll notice the smooth look of no exterior tailgate release and Corvette inspired tail lights. Finally finishing off the rear is a set of eight, count them, eight exhaust tips! A forward tilting hood and 15" chrome Ultra wheels finish off the custom hot rod appearance. Inside is a set of cloth bucket seats for a comfortable ride. The interior design follows the exterior with a mostly red and broken up with a gloss black dash. The rest of the interior includes classy Stewart Warner gauges, billet aluminum pedals, knobs and switches. Another classy touch is the 24" Lokar shifter. Keeping things cool inside are the controls for a Vintage Air A/C unit and tunes can be had with a AM/FM radio with CD. Powering this hot rod of a truck is a small block 327 with a powder coated high rise intake and an Edelbrock carburetor that's mated to a 700R4 overdrive automatic back to a Ford 9" rear end. The gear ratio is unknown but is certainly ready for the highway. For more information on this well built 1946 Chevrolet Pick Up, call 618-271-3000 or stop by our St. Louis showroom.
