For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a very rare March Hare. This kit was completed in the late 70's and is made from a 1965 Volkswagen Beetle chassis that has been shortened by 14.5". The body is fiberglass and all of the windows with exception to the windshield are Plexiglas. Painted in an eye catching 1975 Corvette Flame Orange and riding on a set of aluminum wheels and radial tires. With a tuned suspension and a well built 1641cc VW engine, this little car is ready to carve some corners and turn some heads. The engine has been balanced, has a lightened flywheel, dual 44mm carburetors, a vented oil breather, external oil cooler and filter and 1:25 rocker arms. The engine also has Treuhaft valve covers and breather box. Inside is 70's supercar with vinyl bucket seats leaning back far enough to clear the rake of the windshield, all of the necessary gauges plus a cylinder head temp gauge and a short shifting four speed transmission. You get plenty of ventilation in side with the forward windows that pop out about four inches and side windows that roll down. Some interesting bits include taillights from a 1970 Mustang and fuel filler cap from late 60's to early 70's Mopar muscle. If you're looking for a unique ride, then look no further. This March Hare is it! Titled as a 1965 Volkswagen, the build was completed right around 1979. For more information on this March Hare, visit our St. Louis showroom or call us at (618)271-3000.
